MYKITA Park Seo-Bo: a unique capsule collection celebrating art and design

Berlin’s renowned eyewear brand MYKITA Park Seo-Bo pays homage to the artistic legacy of Park Seo-Bo, a master of contemporary Korean art. Together, they’ve crafted a limited-edition capsule collection that encapsulates minimalism and exquisite craftsmanship.

As the final project before the artist’s passing in 2023, this collaboration epitomizes the seamless union of art and design.

Park Seo-Bo: a visionary of Dansaekhwa

Born in 1931, Park Seo-Bo became a pioneering figure in the Dansaekhwa movement, known for its monochromatic exploration and meditative repetition. His signature Écritures series utilized traditional materials like hanji paper to create a deeply introspective aesthetic that connected art to nature.

Recognized with the Order of Cultural Merit in 2021, Park Seo-Bo left an enduring legacy in the art world. This philosophy of simplicity and mindfulness is the foundation of the MYKITA Park Seo-Bo capsule collection.

A capsule collection without borders

The collaboration, titled 1 OF 0, reflects MYKITA Park Seo-Bo’s shared commitment to bold, timeless design. Inspired by the vivid monochromatic works of the artist, the collection combines stainless steel frames with vibrant hues that represent Park Seo-Bo’s distinct artistic perspective.

Every frame, part of this limited edition, is designed as a wearable piece of art, effortlessly blending practicality and elegance.

Shades inspired by nature’s palette

The MYKITA Park Seo-Bo collection features three exclusive shades drawn directly from the artist’s favorite tones:

  • Maple Leaf: A striking red inspired by the hues of autumn foliage.
  • Golden Olive: A warm, golden-green tone that soothes and captivates.
  • Charcoal: A neutral and refined shade, embodying minimalist beauty.

These colors celebrate Park Seo-Bo’s deep bond with nature and his ability to distill its essence into art.

Honoring craftsmanship and sustainability

Each pair of MYKITA Park Seo-Bo glasses is limited to just 333 pieces per shade and includes a certificate of authenticity. The packaging, crafted from hanji paper, pays tribute to the artist’s heritage while reflecting MYKITA’s dedication to sustainable practices.

Adding to the collectible nature of the collection, the box includes a cleaning cloth adorned with one of Park Seo-Bo’s artworks, elevating a daily item into a symbol of artistic expression.
