MYKITA is an independent eyewear manufacturer based in Berlin, known for its handcrafted high-end frames that combine advanced materials, minimal design, and in-house production.
Founded in Berlin in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans, and Moritz Krüger, MYKITA takes its name from “Kita”, short for Kindertagesstätte, referencing the brand’s first location in a former daycare. MYKITA established its own production site, the “MYKITA HAUS”, to unite design, development, and manufacturing under one roof, reinforcing its independence and commitment to craftsmanship and innovation.
MYKITA primarily works with stainless steel, acetate, and the proprietary MYLON® material, made using 3D printing technology. These materials offer lightness, flexibility, and durability. All frames are handcrafted in Berlin and feature a patented hinge system with a clean, minimalist aesthetic.
MYKITA offers several signature lines: NO1 (stainless steel with spiral hinges), DECADES (vintage-inspired shapes), LITE (ultra-lightweight), LESSRIM (rimless minimalism), ACETATE, and the avant-garde MYKITA STUDIO line. Each collection reflects the brand’s balance of design, function, and technological innovation.
MYKITA eyewear is entirely handcrafted in Berlin at MYKITA HAUS. The production process integrates high-end technologies, such as 3D printing for MYLON®. The MYLON® process is waste-free, with unused powder being recycled back into the system.
MYKITA products are distributed in over 80 to 100 countries through flagship stores in cities like Berlin, New York, Paris, and Tokyo, as well as via selected premium optical retailers worldwide.
MYKITA positions itself as a high-end independent eyewear brand rooted in German craftsmanship, technical innovation, and minimalist design.
