Parisee -. In order to introduce yourself, could you please explain me how you started to design some glasses ?
Parisee -.How did you find the idea to draw the Read On glasses ? Can you tell me more about the story of this project ?
M. Fink -. It happened back in the summer of 2017. We were in Seattle, sitting on a patio and sharing a long table with other people who were all struggling with their losing reading glasses as they got older. One of the group had the idea of combining readers with the mobile phone. We liked that idea and as soon as we got home, we started trying to make a pair of reading glasses that were as small as possible and with a cool look.
Parisee -.What were the main challenges in developing the ReadOn glasses ? What are you the most proud of regarding the final product ?
M. Fink -. The main idea was to make the temples and the front not curved and very thin and compact – to save space. Then the challenge was to make the temples as long as possible, because people often wear reading glasses on the tip of their nose. We have hundreds of prototypes as it was difficult to achieve our vision! We are proud of our unique readers because it’s something completely new and different. We have already won several international design awards, such as the red dot award 2023 or the Wallpaper* smart space award 2024.
Parisee -. What is the next step for and after Read On ? Do you have some new project you can tell me about ?
M. Fink -. .Since the SILMO eyewear fair in Paris, we have taken on several new agents and distributors in and outside Europe – and made our first sale to an optician in Sydney!. It’s a very exciting time right now, we’re ready to scale up, therefore we have to be fully focused on this important step before starting a new project.
