A unique creative process
The main objective of the “Dance” project is to experiment with letting go in design. By shedding usual constraints, the designers were free to explore new ideas. Each creative was invited to sketch from inspiration images within a very short time frame of 3 to 5 minutes.
This spontaneity in creation aimed to capture the essence of initial inspiration, without barriers or restrictions. The creative process was driven by a search for authenticity and a desire to surpass conventional working methods to achieve purity of expression.
Pushing the boundaries of their imagination, the designers emphasized an instinctive style, where every pencil stroke translated into direct emotion and raw visual reflection.
The design sessions took place in a spirit of total collaboration. Each participant brought their unique experience and vision, and the diversity of cultural backgrounds enriched the creation. Attention to detail, crucial at every step, went beyond mere aesthetics: the designers carefully worked on the ergonomics of the frames, ensuring that the glasses were as comfortable as they were stylish. The balance between bold visuals and functionality was always at the heart of their approach.
This design method, which explores materials and shapes without restrictions, allowed for the creation of models where every element has a precise meaning, with every curve and angle crafted to evoke emotion and tell a story.
The result? Two exceptional models: I M PERFECT and CENSUR, which won the prestigious award Silmo d’or in 2024, one of the most coveted honors in the optical industry
Models that challenge the rules
• I M PERFECT
This model draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of “kintsugi,” a technique that repairs broken pottery with gold, making the breakage precious rather than concealing it. I M PERFECT elevates the break to the level of jewelry, transforming the “flaw” into a strong identity element. The message is clear: imperfection is a beauty in itself, and these glasses become a true visual manifesto of this idea.
• CENSUR
This model stands out with a striking crossbar that symbolizes censorship, playing on the idea of what is visible and what is hidden. Part of the face remains exposed, creating an intriguing dynamic between the covered and uncovered areas. This model adopts a futuristic industrial aesthetic, pushing the boundaries of traditional design. The upper bar, reminiscent of visual censorship, adds a dimension of mystery and contrast. This model is for those who like to challenge norms while remaining elegant, offering a unique vision from every angle. CENSUR is available in two versions: a round shape and a square shape, each offering a different interpretation of the same concept.
A collective reflection on design
“Dance” is more than just an eyewear collection; it’s a reflection on how to create together while respecting each designer’s individual sensibilities. Each participant brings their own vision, influenced by their culture: Danish functional minimalism, French boldness in color, and British attention to style. By blending these approaches, “Dance” offers a true creative experiment that pushes the boundaries of traditional optics.
This international collaboration marks a turning point in the eyewear industry, where experimentation and intuition take precedence over conformity. With models like I M PERFECT and CENSUR, Design Eyewear Group reaffirms its commitment to making glasses not just a fashion accessory, but also a means of personal expression, free from conventions.
