Blake Kuwahara celebrates 10 years of creative vision with a Spring/Summer 2025 collection unveiled on the world’s leading eyewear stages. This anniversary series reinterprets the Californian designer’s signature aesthetic while venturing into new visual territory.
Blake Kuwahara 2025 marks a decade of singular vision in optical design. To celebrate this milestone, the California-based designer unveils a Spring collection presented at OptiMunich, MIDO Milan, and LOFT NYC.
Conceived as a visual manifesto, this anniversary series explores new geometries, unexpected materials, and subtle plays on transparency. It builds on the brand’s original DNA while introducing a renewed energy—true to Kuwahara’s ongoing pursuit of balance between structure and fluidity in every piece.
Founder of his eponymous brand, Blake Kuwahara also heads Focus Group West, a multidisciplinary design studio. He first rose to prominence in the 1990s by launching KATA Eyewear, recognized for its technical innovation.
Before creating his own label in 2015, he designed eyewear collections for fashion houses such as John Varvatos, Carolina Herrera, Coach, and Isaac Mizrahi.
A member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and actively involved in the edCFDA, Kuwahara won the Silmo d’Or in 2016 for the Kahn model and was nominated again in 2023 for Kellogg.
His designs have been regularly featured in Vogue, ELLE, GQ, and Esquire, and worn by public figures such as Brad Pitt, Elton John, Charlize Theron, and Sandra Bullock.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection features twelve models, divided between the Core Collection and the Grey Label.
The now-iconic “frame-within-a-frame” concept plays with layered silhouettes fused into a single piece. This complex lamination technique creates a unique sense of visual depth.
On the design front, frames are named after architectural icons such as Prouvé, Schindler, and Perriand, and crafted in premium Japanese acetates, sometimes enhanced with titanium inserts.
Shapes range from oversized round styles to angular geometries and reinterpretations of 1970s classics.
The 2025 color palette blends golden amber, midnight blue, and olive green with experimental textures like pixel acetate—a striking black-and-white mosaic used on the Fickett model. The Randolph introduces a refined navy horn effect.
Together, the collection strikes a finely tuned balance between bold experimentation and everyday wearability.
Launched in 2019, the Grey Label pushes experimentation even further. The new Spring 2025 models, coded “BK10xx,” explore Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics through sculptural volumes, matte and translucent finishes, and finely crafted detailing.
Originally inspired by human skeletal structures, the line retains its organic visual language and serves as a creative lab for exploring new shapes and materials.
Among the standout pieces, the Prouvé frame is offered in a special Pride 2025 edition, created in support of LGBTQ+ causes.
Part of the edCFDA Pride Eyewear Initiative, this limited model features the iconic Pride colors, with a portion of proceeds donated to LGBTQ+ mental health organizations such as Bring Change to Mind.
Kuwahara has been involved in the initiative since 2022, alongside other CFDA member designers. In just two years, the project has raised over $100,000, further affirming the social impact of this meaningful collector’s edition.
Distributed through some of the world’s most selective concept stores—from L’Eclaireur in Paris to Harrods London, Selfridges, and boutiques in Tokyo—Blake Kuwahara eyewear has become a true collector’s item.
These frames appeal to a discerning clientele drawn to bold design and technically refined pieces at the intersection of optics, fashion, and contemporary art.
Blake Kuwahara 2025 represents the culmination of a refined design language honed over a decade. With its intricate constructions, artistic references, and thoughtful exploration of form, this anniversary collection expresses a clear vision: to make eyewear an extension of personal expression.
Through the Core Collection, the Grey Label, and the PROUVÉ Pride edition, Kuwahara delivers a bold and cohesive visual statement—true to his motto: “artful yet wearable.”
